DURBAN

Southern Africa's busiest port and gateway to the industrial heartland of the country.  Durban is not only South Africa's main container port but is also well positioned for bunkering and repairs, having excellent dry dock faciliteies. The port is also currently in the process of widening the entrance and increasing draught restrictions inorder to accomodate the newer generation container ships.
 
 
RICHARDS BAY

Well established as one of the world's leading coal export terminals.  In addition to coal, many other commodities are imported and exported through the clean cargo berths which lie across the harbour from the coal terminal.  Deep water, modern facilities and ongoing development ensure that the port of Richards Bay will be able to handle the growth of the economy well into the next century.
 
 
CAPE TOWN

SALDANHA BAY

On the west coast, not only the deepest port but also the country's premier iron ore export port.  Tankers regularly discharge crude oil and the export of copper concentrates have been a feature for many years.  Recent local developments have seen the export of mineral sands and the construction of a steel mill at this port.  With additional berths under construction, the port will continue to develop to its potential.

 
 
EAST LONDON

The Port of East London is South Africa's only remaining river port and is situated at the mouth of the Buffalo River in the East Cape Province. The port boasts the largest export grain elevator in South Africa, which has recently been converted to handle imports in addition to exports.    
 
 
PORT ELIZABETH
